Information on Cedar Decks
Cedar is a superior all weather decking material. A cedar deck is naturally resistant to
decay and insect damage due to the cedar’s unique preservative oil which means no
further treatment of the deck material is needed unless the deck material is in direct
contact with the ground. Cedar decking material has less than half the swelling and
shrinking tendencies of other domestic softwoods. Our cedar decking material lies flat,
stays straight, retains fasteners and provides a firm base for paints and stains. This allows
your cedar wood deck to age gracefully through decades of extreme weather.
But the real reason to have a cedar deck is that cedar decks are downright beautiful, with a
rich grain, texture and color that complements any architectural style, from traditional to
post-modern.

Why Choose a Composite Deck over a Cedar or Pressure Treated Deck?
Composite Decks are made from Recycled Woods and Plastics. They do not require harsh
chemical cleaners which are used to clean off old stains and sealants during the typical
upkeep of natural wood decks. They require little to no maintenance and look the same
year after year. They also do not crack or splinter like their natural contenders.
Composite Decking comes in all types of colors and grains and with a variety of hidden
fastening system options; they are the most versatile choice for your next deck addition!
What the heck is "Radiance Wood"?
I would like to introduce you to the new and exciting green decking product, "Radiance
Wood!"
When you see this beautiful, environmental friendly, all wood product you will agree! It is
indeed the most exciting thing that has ever happened to Yellow Pine lumber! Everyone is
talking about "Yellow Wood" but believe me, Radiance Wood is going to kick "Yellow
Wood" to shame!
When you can please get on this web site: http://www.radiancewood.com/
The company that manufactures Radiance Wood has taken all the bad qualities out yellow
pine lumber, crook, splits, warpage, twist, leaving the strength and durability as well as the
rich wood look intact.
They begin with #1 Eastern Yellow Pine, run it through the molder to 5/4 x 5", then kiln
dry it in specially designed "Stellec Kills" from Finland for 24 hours at 450 degrees. What
happens during this drying process is all the sugars and all the tannins are completely
removed from the wood, thus they call this process "Thermally Modified Wood." They
actually have to add moisture back into the wood for stabilization. This environmental
friendly treating, (NO CHEMICALS) eliminates all food source for insects and thus making
it decay and rot resistance. In a nut shell, this "burnt" process makes the wood stronger
than "treated ACQ or CCA" lumber without the problems of treated SYP.
During the kiln process the moisture content is lowered from 19% to 0%, then adding 8%
moisturized steam, thus stabilizing the wood, making it resistant to future crook, twist and
splits that accompany yellow pine lumber. As the wood comes out of the kills, the
Thermally Modified Wood is then coated with an environmental friendly resin based
product called "One Time!" This gives the wood a rich golden brown color thus protected
from UV rays for 4 to 5 years before it need re-coating. The owners of "One Time" were so
impressed with this product they joined partnership with them. When you see the samples
you will go nuts!
Anyway, this product is going to reinvent decking! If someone wants an environmental
friendly WOOD deck, this is the real deal! We have trucks on order, and in 2 weeks
product will be at Midwest Reload. We will have Radiance Wood supporting materials such
as; 4 x 4 x 10 posts, 2 x 2 x 8' balusters, 2 x 4 x 16; 1 x 12 x 10 foot skirting, and the
5/4 decking will come like Moisture Shield, in 12, 16 & 20 lengths.
Another exciting feature is the price! The lumber yards will be selling this product to you
at about the same price as Cedar. Compare that to exotic hardwoods! The product also
has a 20 year, transferable warranty.
Please get into the website and read about this product. This process has been proved for
years in Europe for decking siding and exterior trim.
